Speaking of reaching out, we’d love if you could tell us a bit about how delivering with DoorDash has worked for your pilot locations so far.

We started working with DoorDash at our Cupertino and Palo Alto locations about 2 months ago now, and it’s been a good opportunity for us. Because we don’t have a huge online order capability, the only way we’d deliver would be large orders of over $200 with 24 to 72 hours of advance notice, so we couldn’t necessarily reach everyone we wanted to serve. Thats why DoorDash was a good opportunity for us for the lack of minimum size orders, and also for the immediateness of the service. We can now do lunches for companies nearby in less than an hour, so we’ve definitely reached a new market there thanks to DoorDash.

Coming into the partnership, we wanted to make sure we weren’t “cannibalizing” our own in-store customers, but we’re finding the opposite: a lot of our DoorDash customers seem to be discovering us for the first time and trying us out. We’re so focused on our product and store experience over our online presence, so this is a step for us that increases our brand awareness online. And of course we had to organize how things would work on our end and also get feedback from management, but so far we’re excited that it’s working well.
